Rules of the Game

How to Play Dama

Set Up the Board
Each player starts with 12 pieces on the dark squares of the first three rows closest to them. Black moves first.

Move Diagonally
Pieces move forward diagonally, one square at a time, onto empty dark squares.

Capture by Jumping
Jump over an opponent's piece to capture it. Multiple jumps in one turn are allowed — and mandatory when available.

Become a King
Reach the opponent's back row to become a King. Kings can move and capture in all four diagonal directions.

Win the Game
Capture all opponent pieces or block them so they cannot move. Victory belongs to the superior strategist.
